Today, on International Women’s Day, I celebrate every woman. But my heart is especially with the women, mothers, raising children with autism or with special needs.
As a mother of a child with autism, I know this journey is not always easy. There are days when the world feels unkind, when people stare instead of understanding, when doors feel closed, and when the future feels uncertain.
But there is also something incredibly powerful about a mother’s love.
We become our children’s voice when they struggle to be heard. We become their protectors in a world that is still learning to understand them.We become their teachers, their safe place, their biggest believers.
And through this journey, we discover a strength we never knew we had.
At Nione Initiative Foundation, this is why we speak up!This is why we raise awareness. This is why we train churches and communities, so that no child/person with autism is left out, misunderstood, or rejected.
Inclusion is not charity.Inclusion is love!
So today, to every woman, to every mother, raising a child with autism or special needs:Do not lose hopeDo not lose your voice
Together, we will continue to raise awareness, open hearts, and build communities where every child or person has a place.
Happy International Women’s Day to the strongest women I know.
With love, courage, and faith,
Gisele W. Maidou- Founder/Director Nione Initiative Foundation
